SAN! Managing HIV and AIDS in the Workplace Project Documents

Managing HIV in the Workplace: A Guide for CSOs
HIV affects many families and communities. Instead of ignoring HIV in the workplace, we can take action to manage it, for the benefit of our staff and our work. This guide sets out why Civil Society Organisations need to manage HIV in their workplaces, in order to reduce the damage which HIV causes to their staff and their productivity. It addresses common emotional blocks to managing HIV in the workplace, and presents seven steps to developing a response. It also provides ideas for activities to manage HIV, and help on budgeting and financial issues. Also available in French. Source: STOP AIDS NOW!

Promotion of VCT and stigma reduction through HIV/AIDS workplace policies in Ugandan NGOs
This study is part of the evaluation of the SAN! project and addresses the following research question: To what extent and how do WPPs in Ugandan NGOs contribute to HIV prevention through reduction of AIDS related stigma and discrimination, increased utilization of voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) services and disclosure of people’s HIV status, and what is the relation between stigma, VCT usage, disclosure and HIV prevention? A multilevel perspective is applied to frame my findings in order to pay due respect to influences from the individual up to the international level. I conducted a qualitative study in two participating NGOs. Author: Mischa Huson
