UNAIDS
is the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS. Each year UNAIDS produces an AIDS epidemic update report on the latest developments in the global AIDS epidemic. The estimates are based on all available data, including surveys of pregnant women, population-based surveys, and other surveillance information.

Sub-Saharan Africa remains most affected
In 2008, Sub-Saharan Africa accounted for 67% of HIV infections worldwide and the region accounted for 72% of the world's AIDS-related deaths. STOP AIDS NOW! highlights the key themes in the report applicable to the epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa
