STOP AIDS NOW! is working towards a world without HIV/AIDS. Our work involves:

Fundraising
STOP AIDS NOW! raises funds through activities targeting the Dutch population and the business community. Aids Fonds, Cordaid, Hivos, ICCO and Oxfam Novib - the five STOP AIDS NOW! partners – each receive 1/6th of the net income, 5/6th in total. The organisations use these funds to mainstream the HIV/AIDS theme in their programmes for poverty reduction and development aid in countries in the global South. They also support specific HIV/AIDS projects targeting a wide range of beneficiaries. See the project list. The remaining 1/6th is used to fund innovation, lobby and communications. Below you will find a more detailed description of these activities.

Improving existing methods and cooperation
STOP AIDS NOW! aims to create more effective responses to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The Dutch partners and their partners in the South work together to improve existing methods and come up with innovative forms of cooperation. This innovation is channelled into ‘development projects’, each with an applied research component. Current project themes are: managing HIV and AIDS in the workplace, orphans and vulnerable children, and gender. The development projects are co-financed by several sponsors, including the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Dutch National Postcode Lottery.

Putting HIV/AIDS on the political agenda
STOP AIDS NOW! is constantly trying to generate commitment and support for the response to HIV/AIDS. Its lobbying and campaigning aim to influence Dutch and international politics. The STOP AIDS NOW! office actively targets Dutch policy makers, and a specialised lobby group in Brussels - the Stop Aids Alliance - targets the EU. The Alliance is a joint initiative of STOP AIDS NOW! and the Aids Alliance in Brighton (UK). Their main objectives are creating more political attention for HIV/AIDS and better integration of the HIV/AIDS theme into poverty reduction in the global South.

Involving the Dutch population
STOP AIDS NOW! campaigns use a variety of media to inform the Dutch population on the scale and impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The STOP AIDS NOW! youth brand Dance4Life targets a younger segment of the population.
