Project location and time frame
The project period in Kenya and Indonesia is from 2006 to 2008. These two countries were chosen to facilitate the project’s linking and learning function. Working in both a high and low prevalence country provides an opportunity for cross-regional analysis and comparison. STOP AIDS NOW! hopes it will be possible to take the best practices from Kenya (high prevalence country) and use them in Indonesia (low prevalence country), thus contributing to early intervention.
Collective approach and coalition building
The project encourages working collectively as much as possible. It invites groups to form coalitions at a national level and, in the case of Indonesia, at sub-national level (Java and Papua). The members of the coalitions define all roles and responsibilities, and each coalition is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a version of the project and corresponding action plan.
Coalition Coordinators
A local organisation, selected to be the Coalition Coordinator, implements and manages the coalition activities. It also functions as a principal liaison with STOP AIDS NOW!.
The Coalition Coordinators
Kenya: Women Fighting AIDS in Kenya (WOFAK).
Java: Koalisi Perempuan Indonesia or the Women’s Coalition Indonesia.
Papua: Foker LSM Papua.
