Settling a national platform
With this joint activity the STOP AIDS NOW! partners and their local partners aim to settle a national platform in Nicaragua and Tanzania. Through this national platform Micro Financing Institutions and HIV and AIDS organisations are stimulated to join efforts.
Aims
This joint activity aims to address the following issues:
- How can Micro Finance Insitutions and livelihood programmes be effective in affected areas?
- How can Micro Finance Insitutions and livelihood programmes pay attention to HIV and AIDS at their workplace?
- How can micro finance best be used in communities struggling with HIV and AIDS?
Objectives
This activity strives to settle a national platform, where Micro Financing Institutions and HIV and AIDS organisations will join efforts and work together to achieve the following objectives:
- Enhance the access of PLWHA to micro-finance & livelihood opportunities
- Encourage Micro Finance Insitutions and sustainable development (livelihood) organisations to give attention to HIV and AIDS at their workplace
- Improve access of information to beneficiaries (MFI clients) concerning HIV prevention, Voluntary Counselling and Testing
Expected outcomes of the platform:
- Capacity building on HIV and AIDS organisations towards establishing joint activities with livelihood organisations and Micro Financing Institutions
- Micro Finance Insitutions and organisations working on livelihoods have given attention to HIV and AIDS at their workplace
- Special strategies have been developed to enhance the access of PLWHA to microfinance and livelihood opportunities
- Beneficiaries of Micro Finance Insitutions and livelihood programs have access to information concerning prevention & voluntary counselling and testing
