CABA activities
  • Beyond the fragments of care
The Dutch CABA Working Group organises an expert meeting on 3 April 2008 at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands. The meeting aims at furthering the discussion on the best means to assist Children Affected by AIDS in Sub-Sahara Africa, now as well as in the future. While addressing questions related to distribution and social exclusion we will explore a next round of issues on outside assistance and internal organisation in the area of delivery of services at a local (family and community) level, where up till now only ‘fragments of care’ are to be seen.

  • Expert Meeting on "Paediatric Treatment and Care" In February 2006 the CABA working group organised an expert meeting on Paediatric Treatment and Care. As a follow up to this meeting, current activities of Dutch organisations and the Dutch government in the field of Paediatric Treatment and Care are listed. An overview of these activities will be developed by Plan Nederland in cooperation with Wemos.

The political hearing and debate focused on “Social Protection” as an effective instrument in Sub-Saharan Africa to support Orphans and Vulnerably Children (OVC) affected by HIV/AIDS, and as a key thematic area of African and European parliamentary responsibility.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu presented Bert Koenders, the Dutch minister of Development Aid with a Manifest on Social Protection.
