- CSOs and their role in creating conditions for an effective social cash transfer programme
This article on social cash tranfer programmes has been publised in the SafAIDS newsletter (Volume 15, 2009). The article has a special focus on Malawi and specifically looks into ways in which CSOs can contribute to making the national programme more effective.
- Beyond the fragments of care
The Dutch CABA Working Group organises an expert meeting on 3 April 2008 at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands. The meeting aims at furthering the discussion on the best means to assist Children Affected by AIDS in Sub-Sahara Africa, now as well as in the future. While addressing questions related to distribution and social exclusion we will explore a next round of issues on outside assistance and internal organisation in the area of delivery of services at a local (family and community) level, where up till now only ‘fragments of care’ are to be seen.
- Future for Africa, Invest in Children
On 15 June 2007, AWEPA, IAVI, STOP AIDS NOW! and UNICEF organised a political hearing and debate on Social Protection. The aim of the debate was to scale up parliamentary efforts for children and AIDS in Africa. Guest of honour was Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The political hearing and debate focused on “Social Protection” as an effective instrument in Sub-Saharan Africa to support Orphans and Vulnerably Children (OVC) affected by HIV/AIDS, and as a key thematic area of African and European parliamentary responsibility.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu presented Bert Koenders, the Dutch minister of Development Aid with a Manifest on Social Protection.
