in Central America - January 2010

Results:

  • 37 Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) are participating in the project
  • 3.500 posters and more than 6.000 flyers have been distributed amongst the participating MFIs on HIV/AIDS prevention
  • Workshops with staff members and clients have been started, more than 1.000 people in total. More people will benefit from it until the end of the year, as targeted
  • A diagnostic was initiated in December 2009 with 2 MFIs in Honduras, working with people living with HIV. The experience will be documented and will be available on the first week of March 2010
  • A consultancy will design two different financial products targeting PLHIV. The pilots will take place in Honduras and Nicaragua, to be replicated later on with other MFIs
  • In January 2010 the Gender Commission of REDCAMIF held a training on HIV and AIDS including a human rights approach
  • In all 6 countries alliances with organisations working with and for PLHIV have been initiated
