Why lobby?

Five important reasons to lobby

  1. There is a lot to win (or to lose)
  2. Decision-makers and civil servants seek information and support. They often know a little about a lot and therefore need your expertise. NGOs and CBOs are close to the real issues people are dealing with. They know what is needed and what works and what doesn’t work. Being able to put a ‘human face’ to these issues makes them real to politicians and policy-makers
  3. It is a necessity. Your goals may not be reached otherwise
  4. It is a chance to get your interests under the attention
  5. It builds public trust. Which is essential for NGOs. Lobbying may help to gain public trust by increasing your organisation’s visibility
