Support for linking

There is an overwhelming expression of support for linking in various international commitments. From the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo in 1994 to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGS), which seek to improve maternal health (Goal 5) and combat HIV and AIDS (Goal 6), and the more recent G8 meeting in July 2008, the consensus is that linking is a key priority. Support for linking is also strong at the level of multilateral and bilateral agencies as well as with a series of international agencies and non-governmental organisations.
