GIPA: What can you do?

  • Promote the GIPA principle as a right (right to have a voice) and as an indicator of quality and effectiveness of the AIDS response amongst individuals, organisations, communities, and international forums
  • Hold national governments, international agencies, donors and organisations working with HIV and AIDS accountable for their commitment to a greater involvement of PLHIV
  • Establish sustainable and long term partnerships with organisations and networks of people living with HIV. Share projects, interventions and strategies and ask their opinion
  • Combat stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV. Identify forms of stigma in your environment. If you do not see any form of stigma, ask PLHIV if they experience any kind of stigma
  • Provide a safe and enabling environment for PLHIV to be open about their status
  • While working for PLHIV, provide channels for their participation
  • Support the involvement and participation of PLHIV at the workplace
