Cordaid rewards religious leadership in the fight against AIDS

Prize of € 20,000.-
Cordaid aims to emphasise the positive role of religious organisations. Cordaid presents therefore a prize of € 20,000, - for the person or organisation which, from his or her religious background, shows leadership in the fight against AIDS. Individuals and organisations may nominate themselves or others for the Cordaid AIDS Award. Nominations are judged on characteristics of leadership such as courage, initiative, creativity, integrity and personal sacrifice.

Global fight against AIDS
There is a large number of religious organisations in the fight against AIDS. For example, the Catholic church takes 25% of the prevention and care programmes for its account; a vital stake in the global fight against AIDS. In the fight against AIDS the condom plays a major role. Discussions about AIDS continue stabbing on the role of the condom. Especially for religious organisations, this is an issue. Without wishing to undermine the condom discussions, Cordaid wants to broaden the AIDS discussions.
